We’re The Parents In America

Alternate post title: Feeling Clueless

“…so, kids, the reason some people aren’t allowed into our country right now is because, unlike us, they aren’t Christian and they weren’t born in America, where as we are totally allowed here because we are blessed by a Jewish guy from the Middle East who loves everyone, which is why it’s like, our country motto and stuff.

Also, if you ever want to get married, an acceptable way to find someone is to compete with strangers to marry another stranger, which may sound scary, but hear me out…you get a rose. And there’s an open bar.

One more thing, whatever you do, do NOT go near bees. Bees are terrible and everyone hates them. But also, you need to educate yourself and care deeply about what will happen to the planet if all the bees disappear because that would be cray bad. Worse than bees, even.

Oh, speaking of bees and honey, sugar is the most delicious thing ever and also it causes cancer. And so does artificial sugar. And meat. But also be careful about eating vegetables because they might be genetically modified.

Let’s see…what else, what else….”

I tell my kids, “So kids, the reason some people aren’t allowed into our country right now is because, unlike us, their countries are known for producing terrorists, people who might want to do us grave harm. We want to make sure we understand how to best evaluate the threat before we resume letting people from that country in.”

Of course, I take care not to misinform my children. As far as I can tell, you don’t share that concern.

    • So , one reasonableperson, the southwest Missouri and Northwest Arkansas area is known for being the meth Capitol of the US. A “reasonable person” might posit that we build a wall around this area, subject the citizens to 2 years of back ground checks and increased scrutiny, institute a travel ban until we can “evaluate the threat” the people who live in this area might pose. Seems to me that would be a sure way to protect our children from the dangers of drugs! Let’s get started!

I believe the point Mrskansasmommy was making was, parenting sure is tough, approaching it with humor goes a long way…….as does teaching tolerance and embracing diversity! Nicely done, Em!

Hearing from you always makes my day:
